    Early Life and Education

    Zaha Hadid was born in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1950 to an industrialist father who was involved in the country's political scene.

    At the age of eleven, while on a trip to England, Hadid decided to pursue architecture as her career.

    After graduating from the American University of Beirut in 1972, Hadid moved to London and enrolled in the Architectural Association's architecture school.

    There, she studied under renowned architects Rem Koolhaas and Elia Zenghelis. The work of Soviet Constructivists had a profound influence on Hadid's architectural style, but her creative language remained distinctly original.
