Biography of John Edwards

John Edwards was born on June 10, 1953, in Seneca, South Carolina, into a working-class family.

From an early age, he worked as a janitor at a factory to save money for college. He earned a law degree from the University of his home state and worked as a lawyer for nearly 20 years, specializing in consumer protection cases.

Edwards made millions of dollars as an attorney and was known as a wealthy lawyer who portrayed himself as an advocate for the interests of ordinary people.

In 1998, he was elected to the United States Senate, where he became a prominent figure among the Democrats and held moderate positions.

In 2003, Edwards ran for the presidency of the United States but was only able to defeat John Kerry, one of his main rivals, in his home state during the primary elections. If Kerry had won the presidency, Edwards would have become the vice president.
